What fibre laser engraving is for
A fibre laser marks metal with heat, not a cutting bit. That is why it stays sharp on small logos, serials, and names that have to remain readable on a medal or knife blade. Depth is shallow compared with CNC engraving; the trade-off is speed, repeatability, and clean edges on stainless and coated metals.
If you need a groove you can feel on wood or laminate, that is usually CNC. If you need a dark, permanent mark on steel, it is almost always laser. We would rather tell you which machine before you pay than after the plate is wrong.

Artwork, fonts, and mock-ups
Vector logos (SVG, AI, or a clean PDF) mark best. A phone photo of last year’s plate is enough to match a font. For gifts and knives we often engrave a sample on scrap metal first so you can see size and placement — the same process customers mention when they need a last-minute blade or a 21st key done properly.

Typical nameplates and trophy plates are done in a few business days. Small one-off jobs are often same-day or next-day if we already have the wording. Large school lists need the names final before we start.
